Learning-by-doing coding & quant training for financial markets

Practitioner-led face-to-face or live-online programmes for trading desks, hedge-fund operations teams, and individual candidates. Built by practitioners with PhDs and the CQF. Delivered around finance-authentic data and real desk workflows.

QuantDesigned training moves teams from spreadsheet-based workflows to Python-based analytics — without the generic, finance-free content of standard tech courses. Sessions are led by practitioners with decades of markets experience, are vendor-neutral, and can be structured to meet CPT and CPD requirements. Training runs as a standalone programme or as part of a broader Embed engagement →

Programmes are delivered through a state-of-the-art Moodle learning platform with a fully integrated, siloed coding environment — isolated, with no access to company data or external scripts — and built-in LLM chatbot assistants for support. Participants work with finance-authentic datasets and APIs; where access is restricted, synthetic or public data is supplied. We do not redistribute or resell third-party market data.

Ways to engage

Whether it's one person or a whole desk, there's a way in. Pick a ready-made pack, bring a group for a discount, or have us build something to fit. We scope and price each engagement with you.

Standard pack

Standard Training Pack

A ready-to-run eight-session block at a set level (Entry, Practical, or Expert), priced per participant. The fastest way to get individuals onto a proven curriculum.

Group · discount

Company Group Training

Bring a team and train together as a cohort. Group bookings attract a discount, with further savings when you bundle tiers (for example Entry + Practical) or commit to multiple cohorts.

Bespoke

Custom Training

A programme built around your workflows, datasets, and tooling — bespoke curricula, role-specific content, or platform integration designed and delivered for your team.

Half-day · Seminar

Training Bootcamp

A lower-commitment seminar spanning any of our areas — quant and finance, tech and data, coding, or AI workflow — a fast, practical way to try QuantDesigned before committing to a full eight-session programme. Half a day is the longest it runs; sessions can be scoped to just a few hours depending on the topic and audience. Run for a desk, a team, or a single cohort, and priced to feed straight into full training or follow-on consulting.

Every option can be structured for CPT/CPD, and the wider commercial structure adds an optional membership (annual training allocation, priority scheduling, office hours) and a consulting rebate — a portion of training fees credited against qualifying follow-on consulting work.

Who it's for

The three-level spine is tailored to the people in the room. A short pre-course skills inventory places each cohort and allows minor content swaps so the work stays role-relevant.

Markets desks

Markets Professionals

Sales traders, traders, and portfolio managers. Sales traders begin with rapid "first wins" — report automation, API pulls, and deal-prep dashboards — while traders and PMs progress to dependable signal design, realistic backtesting, and production workflows where tools are shared across the desk.

Middle & back office

Operations Data Analysts

Hedge-fund and asset-manager operations teams moving off Excel/VBA. The focus is day-to-day controls — position, trade, cash, settlement and NAV reconciliations — building tolerance-based break detection, ageing dashboards, and automated exception reports ready for the morning desk review.

Recruiters & candidates

Recruiters & Candidates

Short, outcome-driven coding uplift for candidates who need to demonstrate employer-relevant, applied improvement — whether they missed out on a role, must show progress mid-process, or have an offer conditional on training. Emphasis on code reviews and measurable outputs: assessments, a Git portfolio, and micro-projects.

Three levels, modular delivery

Every programme follows the same spine — three levels you can combine to suit your team. Sessions are modular (approximately 2–2.5 hours each), run twice a week over about a month (eight sessions), and are designed to minimise disruption to the desk.

Entry

Excel-to-Python Fundamentals

For non-coders. A hands-on bridge from spreadsheets to Python: clean notebook structure, market-data API access, tidy analysis with pandas, and a repeatable, well-documented report or dashboard a colleague can run.

Practical

Backtesting, Analytics & Risk Tools

For practitioners with basic Python. Reproducible data pipelines, vectorised signal design, and backtests that account for execution, costs and slippage — with defensible performance and risk analytics for desk review.

Expert

Productionising Quant Tools

For advanced users and tool owners. Turn robust notebooks into maintainable internal tools: packaging, tests, CI, containerisation, internal deployment, and governance logging for audit and model-risk needs.

Cross-cutting module

AI Workflow for Finance Projects

We teach teams to set up finance coding projects for AI to build correctly, using a spec-driven, not tool-first approach: define the problem, success criteria and guardrails before any build, and leave with a working prototype of your tool. Rather than a bolt-on after the fact, it runs across all three levels above — spec first → data readiness → workflow design → guardrails → evaluation → deployment.

How delivery works

  • Face-to-face (in-house preferred) or live-online, practitioner-led
  • Eight modular sessions, twice a week over about a month
  • Approximately 2–2.5 hours per session
  • Cohorts of 8–10 (4–6 for Expert)
  • Siloed Moodle LMS coding environment with LLM assistants
  • Finance-authentic datasets and APIs; real desk workflows
  • Short "GenAI bite-size" segments on responsible AI-assisted coding
  • Attendance tracking, assessments, and certificates of completion
  • Each tier ends in a shareable deliverable a desk can adopt

Accreditation & compliance

Content is designed to support firms' CPT and CPD objectives. We supply the evidence; firms determine final crediting in line with their own compliance frameworks.

  • Evidence packs — attendance records, syllabi, assessment material, coding takeaways, and instructor bios, prepared for internal CPT/CPD processes.
  • Licensing relevance — illustrative alignment with SFC Type 1 (Dealing) and Type 4 (Advising) in Hong Kong, and CPD categories under MAS in Singapore. Specific hours and categories are confirmed with your compliance team.
  • Final crediting — determined by the employer, regulator, or provider.
  • Vendor-neutral & secure — integration with your chosen tooling and infrastructure; training materials are licensed for internal team use, and redistribution requires consent.

Regional regulators — HKMA, MAS, ASIC/APRA — are actively pushing governance, validation and human-in-the-loop controls: the same rigour that CPT/CPD-aligned training is built to support. — HKMA
